Nossaman has been recognized by Chambers and Partners in their 2008 guide to the top law firms and attorneys in the US legal market. The firm’s healthcare practice has been ranked in California and the firm’s infrastructure practice has been ranked nationally. In addition, Nossaman healthcare Chair, Richard Spohn, was chosen for individual recognition in California and infrastructure Partners Karen Hedlund and Fred Kessler are acknowledged in the guide.
Chambers differs from other legal guides and lists because of their stringent methodology. By retaining a large dedicated research staff the organization is able to conduct original research. Feedback from interviews with participating firm’s clients and other industry leaders provides the basis of their tiered rankings. Chambers recognizes firms by practice area at both the national and regional level and also ranks individuals.

Nossaman's Infrastructure Practice Group has been highly ranked by leading UK industry publication, Infrastructure Journal, in the global project finance database and in published league tables. In the projects database, Nossaman is ranked the number one 2007 transport legal adviser in North America by volume of deals. Compiled by Infrastructure Journal R&A, the projects database is the product of independent and in-depth reviews of global project finance market activity.
In addition, Infrastructure Journal semi-annually publishes league tables, the industry standard rankings. Nossaman ranks third overall in the "Top North America Legal Adviser," league table and eighth globally in the transport sector. Across all regions and all sectors, Nossaman ranks 20th among global legal advisers. All of the firm's rankings are by volume of deals completed through the mandate won stage.

Nossaman attorney Katherine Contreras was awarded the Sustained Service Award by the Orange County International Right-of-Way Association (IRWA) Chapter 67. The Sustained Service Award is for members who have made an ongoing contribution to the Chapter over a long period of time. Since joining IRWA in 2000, Ms. Contreras has held numerous leadership positions. She is currently the Secretary for the Chapter and has been elected to serve as the Communications Chair in the coming year. Additionally, Ms. Contreras served as the Public Agency Liaison for three years. |
| 11/02/07 | 2007 Gwen Rosebeary Award
Nossaman Partner David Colgan was awarded the Gwen Rosebeary Award by The Building Industry Association, Orange County Chapter (BIA/OC) at their 41st annual installation dinner on November 2, 2007. The award is presented each year to an individual who has demonstrated a long-term commitment and outstanding dedication to the BIA/OC. It is named for the organization's former Director of Membership, Gwen Roseberry, who served as a BIA/OC staff member for nearly 30 years.
Mr. Colgan stepped down from the BIA/OC Board of Directors after 26 years of service on the Board. He is the first attorney to win the honor and joins a small and select group of winners.
With over 30 years of experience in land use, environmental and real estate law, Mr. Colgan represents clients such as the Tejon Ranch Company, The Newhall Land and Farming Company, Tustin Legacy Community Partners, Brookfield Homes, John Laing Homes, Rancho Las Flores and Eagle Valley Developers, LLC on all aspects of land use entitlement, environmental regulation and school facility mitigation and financing matters, and in the acquisition and sales of property. |

The American Lawyer annually surveys midlevel associates nationally and compiles a ranking based on their overall satisfaction. Nossaman is proud to announce our national ranking, 25th in overall associate satisfaction out of 189 firms that participated. In addition, Nossaman is the 5th ranked firm nationally that is California based, the 4th ranked firm in Orange County and the 10th ranked firm among Non-Am Law 200 firms nationally (third among California based firms).
American Lawyer defines midlevel associates for the 2007 survey as those who graduated from law school in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Though 189 firms participated, only 164 firms submitted the minimum 10 completed surveys to be included in the results.
On a scale of 1 to 5 the national average score for associate satisfaction is 3.8, at Nossaman that number is 4.1. Our highest scores were a 4.6 average in the overall rating as a place to work, a 4.6 average in the level of responsibility and a 4.5 average score in the collegiality of the firm.
