Diversity at Nossaman

Diversity Matters.

At Nossaman, we take seriously the issue of diversity and understand the importance of developing a work environment that is reflective of the community in which we live and work and that offers opportunities for all. We strive to improve the climate for advancement, personal development and professional success for all employees.

The firm established an internal Diversity Committee in 2005 comprised of attorneys and staff members. The committee meets monthly to discuss how we can continue to improve our hiring and advancement practices.
We are an active member of the California Minority Counsel Program.
We are signatories to the Bar Association of San Francisco’s "2010 Goals and Timetables and Recommendations for Minority Hiring and Advancement" as well as to its "No Glass Ceiling Commitment".
We are also a signatory to the Los Angeles County Bar Association "2005 Statement of Diversity Goals and Principles".
We support and sponsor the diversity pipeline program, School-To-College.
We support and participate in the Inner City Youth Internship Program in Los Angeles, which is run by the Southern California Association of Law Libraries.
We are a member of the Southern California Diversity Pipeline Coalition spearheaded by Southern California Edison focusing on the mentorship of students in the greater Los Angeles County area.

In addition, Nossaman was ranked 5^th in California in a survey by California Lawyer in 2005 for having the highest percentage of female partners. The firm was also named "Employer of the Year" in 2006 by the Los Angeles Chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar.

The beneficiaries of these efforts are our clients. We believe that firms who represent a broader segment of the population are also better versed on issues that impact a spectrum of individuals. It’s not a matter of statistics -- it is a qualitative improvement in how we can best serve our clients and their unique and distinct interests.
